Dear Friends and Members of A+ Denver,
We are excited to announce the completion of the executive director search has resulted in our hiring Van Schoales, a well-known educator and leader in the education community, to lead A+ Denver at this critical time for Denver’s educational system. Van will begin his work at A+ August 1, and we are thrilled to have someone with his experience and passion on board.
Many of you already know Van from his work with Education Reform Now (ERN) and his background of working in education reform for more than two decades. He brings experience as a teacher, principal, and manager of a nonprofit organization in addition to his abundant knowledge of educational policy at the local and national level. He will re-energize the A+ community around broadening and deepening educational improvement in Denver.
We believe Van’s unquestionable leadership and passion towards education reform will allow our organization to implement its mission to dramatically increase educational achievement for all of Denver’s students.
Van’s role will be unique in that he will continue to work for ERN on a part time basis, but will devote the majority of his time to the work of A+ Denver. We believe his continuation with ERN will support and enhance the scope and mission of A+ Denver through his ongoing relationships with national leaders. Attached you will find a press release.
