Background on A+ DenverThe mission of A+ Denver (A+) is to harness the power of Denver’s civic leadership to build public will and advocate for the changes necessary to dramatically increase student achievement in public education in Denver. Our board and members include over 100 community leaders across the public, nonprofit, university, and business sectors. A+ Denver is a growing advocacy, policy and research non-profit with a full time staff of six and five hundred thousand dollar annual budget.
Director of Operations
A+ Denver is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Director of Operations. This person will need to be able to manage a variety of projects simultaneously, oversee expenses and budget reporting, monitor communications, and work with various stakeholders to support the execution of all organizational activities that include advocacy campaigns, research papers and events.
A successful candidate will be someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish a goal, someone who is able to anticipate problems and opportunities without a great deal of supervision, and someone with a strong connection with the mission of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Manage the overall functionality of the organization, including but not limited to: internal and external communication (website, social media, newsletters), report editing and publication, project management, event planning, board management, member recruitment, etc.
Play a significant role in long-term planning, including drafting strategic plan in collaboration with executive and board of directions, monitor and report on implementation of plan.
Manage all grant applications and reporting including detailed financial tracking. The Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (CNDC) handles accounting and human resources. This position works with CNDC to ensure accurate processing of payroll, expenses, and coding to budget line items and grants.
Manage annual organizational budget and maintain detailed reports. Work with CEO on forecasting and projections to ensure spending and fundraising are aligned.
Supervise at least one employee and coordinate entire staff to ensure logical distribution of work
Other work and duties as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred)
3 years professional experience
Supervisory experience
Strong communication skills
Experience with grant writing and management
Proficiency in Excel and other software skills
Some web design and/or editing experience
Ideally experience teaching or working with schools, but not required
