The mission of A+ Denver is to harness the power of Denver’s civic leadership to build public will and advocate for the changes necessary to dramatically increase student achievement in public education in Denver.

A+ Denver is an independent, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization working to bring the power of Denver’s citizens to the effort of school reform. A+ Denver members are comprised of community and business leaders, parents, representatives from local foundations, and universities.
Our singular goal is to do whatever is necessary to bring about dramatic improvement in student achievement so that all Denver children have the opportunity to reach their highest potential through the foundation of a quality K-12 education. Our work focuses on:

- Building community wide support for necessary reforms that put the needs and interests of the students over the adults
- Establishing a community-based long-term view and commitment that bridges the inevitable changes in administration and school boards
- Holding all stakeholders responsible for the results
- Grant Writing and Reporting
- Manage all current grant accounts including reporting back to funders, monitoring submissions and following up with foundations.
- Draft and edit all grant proposals and research funders to ensure all requirements are met and instructions are followed correctly.
- Research and locate new sources of funding to diversify our income and improve current funding strategy.
- Increase organization awareness and outreach in the community
- Responsible for monitoring and collecting data on the website traffic and developing a system for updating website with relevant news, information and facts.
- Increase social media outreach efforts.
- Manage our Good Ad Grant and develop effective marketing and search campaigns to increase traffic and website hits on Google searches.
- Research Assistance
- Assist Policy Director with research for reports and briefs.
- Monitor education news via blogs, websites and follow current trends in education policy nationally and locally.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Interest in education reform and alignment with organization mission
- Experience with basic website editing and social media
- Strong research experience and analytical thinking
- Marketing and outreach knowledge
What is the AmeriCorps VISTA program?
AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. Authorized in 1964 and founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965, VISTA was incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs in 1993. VISTA has been on the front lines in the fight against poverty in America for more than 45 years
VISTA members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency, working to fight illiteracy, improve health services, create businesses, strengthen community groups, and much more. With passion, commitment, and hard work, you’ll create or expand programs designed to bring individuals and communities out of poverty.
